Greetings!
2009 marks the third consecutive year of the Aurora Noon Rotary Club's “Festival of Lights” here in the “City of Lights” for the holiday season. This year, the club is bringing the lights and the holiday spirit back in even grander form.
The support for the light show has been overwhelming. Thousands of visitors were drawn to the park last year to enjoy the show, which was one of the largest outdoor holiday displays in the Chicago area. I was pleased that the City of Aurora was able to partner with the Noon Rotary Club to showcase our largest park during the winter season.
Behind the hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights are many, many hours spent in planning, installing and maintaining the mile-long display that incorporates over 40 arrangements.
The value of this light show to the city is more than just entertainment value. It is the value that comes from people and groups and volunteers working together to make something uplifting happen. And as the Noon Rotary Club continues to enhance the Aurora Holiday Festival of Lights, I know that the festival will grow to become a tradition that families will enjoy and pass down to their children.
Sincerely,

Tom Weisner
Mayor, City of Aurora, Illinois
